Loving others
We break God’s law when we refuse to love others as we love ourselves. Whether it is loving our family, friends, colleagues or even strangers, we are to love other people so well that they experience God’s love firsthand through us. This is how we prove that our faith is not outdated. Debate alone will not move people to believe that the Son of God really did come to save them thousands of years ago. God’s love will conquer all. Let us be an outpouring of God’s love for others.

Romans 13:8 ESV Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
A prayer to love others well
“Dear Heavenly Father
Thank you for Your great love for us, that Jesus laid His life down for us.
John 3:16 ESV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
I am filled with gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice for me on the cross. Please show me how to live my life with the same commitment to love others well, just as Jesus loved me from the very beginning, even before I was born. Teach me how to use my words and actions to glorify You, not with empty words, but a sincere desire to honour You.
1 John 3:16-18 ESV By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
I confess that I struggle to love others as You love them. There are people I prefer to avoid or judge. Please change my hard heart and help it beat like Jesus’. I want to put down everything that stops me from loving well.
1 John 4:19-21 ESV We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
Teach me Your gentleness and patience. Fill me with Your compassion and humility.
Ephesians 4:2 ESV with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
Help me to love without condition and expectation, to love others simply because You love me, and not because of what others do.
Luke 6:32 ESV “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luke 6:35 ESV But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
Make me more like Jesus Christ every day, until I am filled with so much love that it overflows, without me even trying. Please fill me with Your joy as I love those whom You love.
John 15 11-12 ESV These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Thank you for using me as a vessel of Your love. Please do all this for Your glory, so that more people will come to know Your love through my life. I know one day, I will bring a large party back home with me to meet You, because Your love flows through me while I am on earth. Thank you for this honour.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
In Jesus’ name, amen!”
