God’s promises
How wonderful it is to pray with confidence in God’s ‘precious and very great promises’ for us. The Creator of everything in this universe has given us a part of His divine nature by having His Holy Spirit live in us. With the Spirit of wisdom, peace, hope and joy inside us, we can walk in great confidence in the midst of a chaotic world.

2 Peter 1:4 ESV By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
A prayer to proclaim God’s promises for us
“Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for giving Your Holy Spirit to live in all Your followers. We are unworthy of such a great treasure. Yet it is because of Your goodness that You choose to bless us nonetheless.
2 Corinthians 6:16,7:1 ESV … For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
Thank you that Your Spirit goes before us to guard and direct our steps. Thank you that You promise to never leave or forsake us. What a great Companion we have for eternity.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Please give us hearts that are receptive to all the teachings of Your Holy Spirit so that we may walk in Your manifold blessings.
Psalm 86:11 ESV Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.
Thank you that You promise to give us a future and a hope when we turn to You with all our hearts. No one can not steal Your sovereign plans for us.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Teach us to stay humble, walking behind You – never before You or turning away. Thank you that You promise to give us the desires of our hearts when we delight in and follow Your loving guidance.
Psalm 37:4 ESV Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Thank you that the One who created the entire universe is in complete control of our futures. With You as our helper, what do we ever need to fear?
Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
All Your promises are fulfilled in the unseen, so we will place our hope in Your Word, not what we can see. Everything we see will pass away. Only our relationship with You is eternal and worth protecting.
Hebrews 11:1 ESV Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for leading and guiding us all the days of our lives. Thank you for all Your promises for good in our lives, as we follow You.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”
