God’s Word shows us that anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Satan, the deceiver of this world, will tempt us to call upon the name of other spirits instead. The Holy Spirit whom God has sent to us, is our Helper; He will teach us many things and empower us to live life according to God’s will. Demonic spirits, on the other hand, will only bring us spiritual decay and death. Here is how we can pray to repent and be set free from their affliction.
Romans 10:13 ESV For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
John 14:26 ESV But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Acts 1:8 ESV But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Revelation 12:9 ESV And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Many people have been deceived into calling upon evil spirits through:
- Calling on idols, mythical figures, spirits, dead people for help
- “Playing” video games or card games involving sorcery
- Repeating spells learnt from movies and books
- “Games” such as Bloody Mary, ouija boards
- Pagan rituals and dances
A prayer to repent of summoning spirits
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I have called upon unclean spirits in the past, instead of calling upon the name of Jesus Christ. How I must have grieved the Holy Spirit and defiled my mind, body, soul, spirit, and heart! You are the One who created me, as well as heaven and earth, and I should have turned to You.
Psalm 124:8 ESV Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
I acknowledge my ignorance does not make me guiltless. I am grateful for Your grace; that You sent Jesus to save me, not to condemn me. I now humble myself before You and seek Your salvation.
Hosea 4:6 ESV My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…
John 3:17 ESV For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
I repent of calling on (please name all the spirits, idols, deities, mythical figures, witches, wizards, dead persons, angels etc.) to help me or to enter my body. I truly repent from my heart. Such sorcery prevents me from inheriting the kingdom of God and I now recognise the severity of my sin. Please forgive me, Heavenly Father. Thank you for Your mercy.
Galatians 5:20-21 ESV idolatry, sorcery … and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I confess that at that time, I had wanted (please name the desire). I recognise that You alone are the Source of all comfort, meaning, goodness, hope, and life, and I now submit to You as my Lord, Master, and King. I may not understand everything in the spiritual realm but I do not need to. I just need to follow the Holy Spirit, He will guide me along the path of righteousness that will lead me safely to eternity life with You.
James 4:7 ESV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Proverbs 12:28 ESV In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.
I repent of every ritual (please name the rituals), renounce every word I have said to pray to or call upon spirits (please list the prayers, wishes, incantations or spells), and cancel out any curses I had said (please list the curses), in the name of Jesus Christ.
I also destroy all related games, papers, talismans, idols etc., and command the spirits attached to them to leave me and my family in Jesus’ name, never to return.
Where I have called on the spirit to curse, destroy, steal from, or kill anyone in the physical, digital, or spiritual realms, I now repent and revoke those words. Father in heaven, please forgive me for this wickedness and remove this sin from me. Instead, I now bless each of them (please name each person) with good health, joy, and peace. May they also turn to the Lord as their personal Saviour and taste Your goodness.
James 3:10 ESV From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
Luke 6:45 ESV The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
James 1:26 ESV If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
I also forgive those who have led me into the occult, including (name family member/s, friends, spiritual masters, authors etc.) and I cut all ungodly spiritual ties with them.
In the name of Jesus, I command all spirits related to all these rituals, objects, and people to leave me now, submit to Jesus, and never come back.
Matthew 10:1 ESV And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
Holy Spirit, please cleanse my body and my spirit of defilements from the places I have been to and the people I have been involved with in witchcraft.
2 Corinthians 7:1 ESV Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
Please make me a honourable vessel for the Holy Spirit to live in and work through. Fill me with Your love so that I can love others as God loves me.
2 Timothy 2:21 ESV Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
Romans 5:5 ESV And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Thank you for Your everlasting faithfulness and mercy.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”
